In an effort to beautify the front of the school, National Art Honor Society (NAHS) has special plans in mind – to paint a magnificent mural.

“Principal Acuña gave us the idea, he really liked the one we did for the baseball locker room,” art teacher Eduardo Saucedo said.

NAHS already has an idea that is sure to grab visitors attention as they enter the school.

“We have three sketches but the ideas are pretty similar to one another,” NAHS president Leslie Ibarra said.

While a start date has not been set, NAHS members are making plans.

“Before we even start on the painting of the mural we want to gather more members so we have more help with the process,” Saucedo said.

In wanting to complete the mural faster NAHS wants to try something new.

“We actually want to collaborate with the Class of 2016 to not only get their help, but also their input and suggestions,” Ibarra said.

The Class of 2016 sees the mural as a positive for the school and really likes the idea.

“It proves to people outside of the campus that we are a student-led school as well as showing the community and Ysleta district that we have very talented art students,” Class of 2016 president Ariana Solis said.

The design includes all the feeder schools logos combining into a single one, forming a Conquistador.

“It’s a great thing for the school, and for the students as well, our motto is OFOD and that is what the mural looks to represent for the entire community to see,” Principal Antonio Acuña said.
