With big ideas and a bright smile, Principal Ivan Cedillo joins the campus. After moving from Dallas the Bel Air High School graduate came miles to join the school.

I am originally from El Paso. I grew up in Juarez for the early part of my life but always attended schools in El Paso,” Principal Cedillo said.

Cedillo remembers his Bel Air High School days.

“I will say the baseball program played a big role in who I am today, the lessons I learned and the work ethic instilled in me during that time has definitely carried on through all these years,” Cedillo said.

Before becoming a Conquistador, Cedillo was already in education.

“I was the associate principal at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton. I started my second year in teaching as a Spanish teacher, baseball and football coach. I then left the school after seven years to become an assistant principal and then came back as the associate principal,”

Coming back to El Paso is special for Cedillo.

The short answer, YISD administration believed enough in me during the interview process to bless me with the principalship at DV,” Cedillo said, “The long answer, after 20 years away from El Paso, it was time to come back home, I am now in a position to continue to serve students as a principal of a school and there was no better place to do it than the place I called home, even after I moved out.”

Cedillo is a Conquistador.

“This is now my home. Upon hearing that I was blessed with the opportunity to come to Del Valle, I knew that I would be diving in head first,” Cedillo said.

And Cedillo has a lot planned for the students.

Del Valle has the ability to become a Blue Ribbon school. The students that we have here and the staff members that lead our kids are by far the best in all of El Paso,” Cedillo said.

He is ready for the challenges ahead.

“As a campus leader, it is my job to push our thinking and challenge our thinking to ensure that we continue to grow and improve, every day,” Cedillo said, “At Del Valle, the sky is literally the limit as to what we can accomplish.”
