Cross country hosted their first meet Sept. 2.  All teams were out on the track for six hours in the hot sun fighting hard to place.

Meets help members know where they stand and what they need to improve. The team practiced all summer and continues to practice daily after school.

“Our practices are long but I love to run so both practice and meets are fun for me,” runner George Morales said.

The cross country team is doing well, they are third out of 25 schools. The team’s hard work is paying off, and they are proud of their accomplishments. The team has had two meets and are having an outstanding season.

“I’m nervous for districts, but I know my team and I will do good,” runner Sidney Vasquez said.

The team has high expectations for upcoming meets and districts. Competition’s around the corner. District competition is a big event where all teams go head-to-head to determine their school’s place.

“Right now we are third out of 25 schools, so I have faith we will remain on top,” Cross country coach Ramon Benavidez said. “All runners must run, so everyone has a chance to get on the track and have fun but also handle business and get us where we need to be.”
