Wrestling season is here and the team is ready to face every tournament they’re scheduled for. There are 13 tournaments this season. Some wrestlers have been preparing since September and hope their hard work pays off.

Their first tournament was Nov. 12, at home. The boys were 1-2. Girls were 0-3.

“There were a lot of tough matches but we still managed to win some of them,” sophomore Andres Manriquez said.

Wrestlers have to stick to a diet and work hard every day in order to maintain weight.

“Sometimes it is hard to keep up with diets but my love for wrestling won’t let me quit,” sophomore Adam Puentes said.

Wrestlers practice until 6 p.m. during the season. They work hard every day in order to lose or gain weight. They learn different types of techniques to beat their rival. Their season it’s about 3 months long.

“Our goal is always to get better and go to state,” sophomore Javier Duchene said.

The boys wrestling team includes Angel Alonso, Evert Atilano, Victor Contreras, Elliot Cortes, Javier Duchene, Aliaz Flores, Alejandro Gonzales, Israel Lucas, Bryan Luna, Andres Manriquez, Angel Munoz, Frankie Oribio, Adam Puentes, Tristin Tuialuuluu, Raymond Montez.
