Golf season has ended.

“We had a good season for the boys’ team placing fourth in district and a really good season for the girls. The girls placed second in the 2-5A District golf Tournament qualifying for regionals. They played well at regionals on a very difficult course,” golf coach Oscar Cordova said.

A student got D1 scholarships, which is recognition of the best athletes in a particular sport from a college.

“We ended up winning five tournaments and at our finals we ended up getting second place which was pretty exciting,’’ senior golfer scholarship recipient Kaylee Garcia said.

The girls golf team’s hard work paid off at their regional tournament. They didn’t rank at their final games but they did a fantastic job. They continue to practice preparing for next year.

“We had a good season overall, I know our team can play much better. They are working hard on their golf swings during practice,” Cordova said.

Golf consists of lots of patience along with correct swing mechanics over and over until the golfer hits the ball consistently.

Golf is a sport that everyone can learn to play at any age. You don’t have to be athletic to play golf and you will be able to play it forever,” Cordova said.
