‘Breaking Bad’ Doll Drama

Toys R Us is pulling four collectible dolls based on characters from Emmy-winning AMC show “Breaking Bad”. After a Florida mom identified by news media as Susan Schrivjer, launched a petition demanding that the store immediately stop selling the dolls.

The series is about Walter White, an ex high school chemistry teacher who turns to a life of crime making and dealing methamphetamine, with one of his former students Jessie Pinkman. Although the show is not appropriate for children, parents should be monitoring what their children watch or play on a daily basis.

Schrivjer launched the petition claiming that Toys R Us is a “family friendly” store, and therefore, has no business carrying Breaking Bad dolls. More than 9,000 signed the petition causing the dolls to be removed from the website and the shelves.

If Toys R Us is such a family environment, why can’t adults go and buy a collectible doll from their favorite TV series while little Nancy picks up a Barbie. What is so bad about selling dolls based on this show.

Toys R Us sold a Jason Voorhees Bobblehead from Friday the 13th. This is far worse than Breaking Bad.

Aaron Paul, the actor who plays Jessie Pinkman, said Florida mom messed it up for everyone, and he’s wondering if the store is still selling all the violent video games it usually carries.

This case was taken out of proportion. Parents should monitor what their children watch and what they buy. The four collectible Breaking Bad dolls should not be banned from the website or the shelves. People need to accept that there is positivity and negativity in this world. Parents can’t filter their children’s lives forever.
