The dreaded prom, for some, is just around the corner. Girls are going crazy trying to find the perfect dress and the perfect date. Boys are deciding whom to ask, dreading rejection and the possibility of going penniless over a single evening.

Ridiculous amounts of money will be spent for this one night. Hundreds go to a dress that will probably be worn once, more than a few $20s will go to tux rentals, flowers, dinner, transportation and tickets. Prom is pricey.

No one dares step out of their home until perfection is achieved for this night. As if. Girls will conceitedly stare at themselves in a mirror for hours and offer faux compliments to each other secretly hoping the other will trip and fall in front of everyone.

Then there’s the “same dress” issue. Tip: Ladies, buy the dress in a small shop to avoid wearing the same dress someone else looks better in. That’s just social suicide.

It will seem as if boys did not put much effort toward their appearance, like always, but they will probably over-do the after-shave and then bathe in their cologne.

Meeting the parents and being put on the spot has to be the worst part. First impressions are crucial. Boys, being respectful and polite will ensure another date.

Over-planning the night never works, so take the night as it comes to ensure a great night before going completely in debt.
