Staying hydrated in the summer

It is important to stay hydrated during the summer. Water is a good way to stay hydrated because it increases an individuals energy. It also boosts the immune system. An individual will be less likely to get sick during the summer according to “How to Not Get Sick” by HuffPost writer Chloe Spencer, Dec 17, 2012.

It is important to drink water but while exercising a person needs to consume sports drinks to recover lost electrolytes.

“If you are losing electrolytes make sure you are drinking Gatorade but also make sure you are drinking water because your body is not going to feel thirsty until you are dehydrated,” Registered Nurse Lucila Menchaca said.

Consider drinking other types of drinks such as a coconut water.  It can also replenish electrolytes and give the body more energy as stated in “6 Best Drinks To Keep You Hydrated All Summer”  by SkinnyMs, Aug 6, 2015.

Some struggle to keep hydrated and young people and the elderly are more vulnerable of dehydration during the summer.
