New York City is one of the busiest cities filled with individuals with different backgrounds and different stories. Beyond that are the different species of pets that live in each apartment with a secret life. The Secret Life of Pets, an animated comedy directed by Chris Renaud and produced by Illumination Entertainment, features the adventure of a dog named Max and his friends who get into a big mess with other animals that live in the sewer. The only thing the two want is to get back home to their owners.

Max is a Jack Russell Terrier who seems like any other dog in the city. He was abandoned in a box, on a very rainy day. A girl named Katie rescues him and a bond grows between the two.

One day Katie arrives home he brings home a new dog, Duke, a large mongrel from the pound. Max has to share Katie now and becomes jealous. Disaster occurs when Max and Duke are caught by the city pound, leaving them no choice but to join forces if they want to get back home.

This movie is about the unconditional love pets have. These two want to go back home to their owner no matter what. Their adventure includes fighting off a crazy bunny, crocodiles and big snakes.

The film stars include Louis C.K. as Max, Eric Stonestreet as Duke and Ellie Kemper as Katie. The Secret Life of Pets grossed $368.4 million in the U.S. and Canada and $507.1 million in other countries for a worldwide total of $875.5 million, against a production budget of $75 million. This animated film has about everything you need from explosions, humor and a happy ending. One might be very surprised by what pets do once their owners leave home.
