Split is based on a true story that took place in Philadelphia Pa. starring James McAvoy as a man with 24 personalities. Director M. Night Shyamalan’s Split turned into a strong U.S. box office hit with $40.2 million in its opening weekend Jan. 19.

The story is simple but horrifying. Kevin abducts three teenage girls from the parking lot of a grocery store. As the three teenage girls try to escape, Kevin struggles to keep up with his personalities  which change rapidly. One minute he’s wearing eyeglasses and obsessing about cleanliness, the next he’s presenting as female, and later he acts like a nine-year-old boy.

His captives must convince one of his 23 personalities to set them free before his 24th personality, known to as the “Beast,” takes over.

This psychological thriller is suspenseful and is a great watch for anyone who enjoys a scare.
