Clubs share the feast
December 8, 2016
Many organizations are all about helping the community. Their main focus is family. Clubs such as FCCLA, student council and DECA gathered food items to fill Thanksgiving baskets. Each basket required items from each member in the club.
“Since Thanksgiving is all about giving, the main focus is to give to people who don’t have anything and feel proud for giving and not getting,” FCCLA member Valerie H’Luz said.
Many clubs participated in this event and they have been for several years now.
“I have items that are not useful to me or my family, but could be the greatest thing in the world for another family,” student council member Pamela Martinez said.
Thanksgiving is a word of action, and that is exactly what these students are doing when they donate items for the baskets.
“I feel supportive because I am able to give to families without getting something in return, and feeling good about it,” Martinez said.
Many students are proud of giving and do not expect anything in return.
“I have been helping with the baskets for two years now, and I hope they will continue to do the same for the next years to come,” Martinez said.
Community in School, Sarah Del Campo distributed the Thanksgiving baskets to various families.
It is a school tradition for clubs to help out the community on Thanksgiving day.
