New Year’s Resolutions: More than a cliche
December 15, 2015
One of the biggest holiday cliches is making a New Year’s resolutions. Most people know about them but few make them and even fewer actually go through with them. According to statisticbrain.com 45 percent of people make New Year’s resolutions but only eight percent are successful with their initial goals.
Some of the most common resolutions are losing weight and getting organized. The problem with such resolutions is the perseverance needed to accomplish it, people might do it for a few weeks or even months before quitting and going back to their old ways.
Accomplishing New Year’s resolutions is possible. It takes planning and perseverance and it can change a person’s lifestyle if done correctly. The best way to go through with said goals is to first make a list, sit down number them according to priority and then start a timeline, month by month or what accommodates best with one’s lifestyle. Reaching a lot of small goals is easier than reaching a single distant complicated one.
Stay away from unrealistic goals or goals that sound good but are not one’s cup of tea. For example, one doesn’t commit to watch all seasons of Friends if comedy is not one’s favorite. Do things that will make a needed change and don’t get discouraged over little defeats, the year is 365 days long and every day is a new chance, take it slow and make that change.
