Christmas is the time for giving and many organizations stepped up to make it a better Christmas for others. Student Council, NHS, DECA, FCCLA and many other clubs participated.
Clubs turned in enough money to donate 25 bikes to Student Council’s “Bikes and Tykes” initiative. Each area elementary school received 6 bikes through student council’s effort. The project is part of a district toy drive that collects bikes for children in the community.
“Because it’s the right thing. Some don’t have the luxury to do everything on their own or might not have enough resources,” NHS Secretary Andrew Tiscareno said.
NHS donated gifts, valued at no less then $10, to the elderly in the Oasis Nursing Home. NHS also participated in the Lancaster Carnival where club members went to Lancaster with presents and stockings filled with candy and to play games with the second graders.
“”It’s an annual thing. It gives the kids the chance to give back to those who have nothing to open,” DECA sponsor Gabriela Molina said.
DECA sponsored the Army Salvation Shoe Box for kids who may have nothing to open on Christmas day.
Many other clubs helped with canned food drives, or turned in soda tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Forty-five Thanksgiving baskets were also collected for  donation. Several baskets were donated to local residents and the rest were delivered to Corpus Christi Parish.
