Varsity tennis team wraps up spring season

With a positive attitude, the tennis team’s spring season wrapped up Wednesday, April 6 with the District Certification tournament. 

“The season ended great this season, our girls singles, girl  doubles and one boys doubles team made it out of town. It was a good season overall and I’m very proud of the team and their accomplishments. It’s my senior season and I couldn’t be more happier at the outcome then this one,” captain Omar Gonzalez said.

The team had a four win streak from Feb.11 to March 29, playing against  Riverside, Bel Air, Horizon, and El Dorado High Schools.

“This team is super determined, the whole team is willing to stay after hours and put in more work in order to be the best in the city,” Gonzalez said.

The Conquistadores lost against the Eastwood Troopers Jan. 28. Losing their second game of the spring season. 

“The team is very dedicated, practices hard and can win more games,” sophomore Charlize Trevizo said.

The tennis team won their first spring game against the Emmanuel Baptist Warriors, Jan. 26.   

“We are like a little family, we are always supporting each other on the court,” Gonzalez said.

The tennis team is done with their year and are looking forward to the year ahead.

“We have a really good team. We have a really good combination of seniors, juniors and sophomores coming up,” coach Victor Gutierez said.
