How quarantine affected my sleeping schedule

PlayStation replaces workouts during quarantine.

Sleeping is an important part of the day besides being productive throughout the day. The body needs to rest at least eight hours every night. Quarantine has had a huge impact on sleeping schedules. Everyone is staying inside eating junk food and watching television, being less and less productive.  The  body starts to change and acts differently, one sleeps-in more and stays up past  1 a.m. talking to friends or glued to phones.

My brother Sean Gonzalez, a former dance student in community college, worked out and went to sleep early because he had dance, college and work. Since the quarantine he doesn’t work out anymore. He stays in his room doing college work. He goes to sleep at 4 a.m. every day and wakes up at 2 p.m in the afternoon to complete homework, sleep and play on his PlayStation.

I sleep during the day. I do homework from time-to-time. I used to work out daily and wake up at 5 a.m., run two miles, and  do my homework while eating breakfast. Now I go to sleep at 5 a.m. and wake up at 3 a.m. to watch TikTok and FaceTime my friends.

Like everyone else, quarantine has affected me and my brother. Our bodies were used to a strict, tight schedule. Now there’s not much one can do because we have to be inside, six feet apart and that is taking its toll.
