Varsity volleyball’s hopeful comeback season

Sport teams have fluctuating seasons. Last year’s varsity volleyball team stood 1-17 in district and 7-22 overall. The varsity volleyball team is working towards a better season. They just may bust through and break that losing streak. 

“We struggled a lot with communication, team building and working as a team,” head coach Erica Rodriguez said. “I want to accomplish more communication and make the playoffs.”

 The team is working to improve their season. Hitter Vianna Villarreal, one of two sophomores on the varsity volleyball team. 

“(We need) more communication on the court and keeping the positive energy and coming together (to) play as a team,”  Villarreal said. 

 The team has a lot of new talent, including eight newcomers. 

“(We have) a lot of talent and we’re all optimistic. (As a team), we want to make a name for ourselves in district,” outside hitter Mia Salazar said. 

As of Sept 27, the team is 3-10 in district and 11-15 overall. The team invites all to go out and support varsity volleyball.
