Theater teacher Marissa Thurman and the theater staff prepared a new musical show  titled 8-track Sounds of the‘70s, by Rick Seeber.

“It’s a musical and basically an infomercial,” Thurman said. “No talking, it’s just people singing all the chart toppers.”

Not only is this play a musical masterpiece, it’s a comedy. Auditions took place Oct. 19, and rehearsals have been ongoing since Oct. 26. The play is well on its way.

“There is no plot, it’s just all songs,” cast member Gerardo Miranda said.

The actors will perform small portions of the songs with the most hits during this era while portraying different singers. There are no scenes. It is a compilation of great tunes with amazing backgrounds.

Technical theater director Martha Gutierrez and her crew are working on the props and backgrounds for the play.

“There’s only going to be one set, but it’s going to be huge and the actors will be using it all at the same time but at different places. It’s going to look like a ’70s infomercial,” Gutierrez said.

Opening night was Dec. 18, the play ran through Dec. 20, in the theater at 7 p.m.
