December features dance recital
December is recital time for dance classes and teams. Family and friends are welcome to show their support for their son or daughter.
The recital is held on a Saturday in the west gym later at 6 p.m., performers have the opportunity to practice the show before it actually starts.
“Before the start of the show I felt nervous, because I didn’t practice and I didn’t want to mess up,” dance II student Sara Mora said.
Every girl who has a dance class and is eligible can participate in the show. In every class the teacher chooses a song to choreograph then she decides on the formation and costumes according to song theme.
“For song ideas and steps I sometimes listen to the radio or Pandora and that makes me visualize things. And for the second one I get ideas for my team members,” dance teacher Gloria Tovar said.
This December’s recital put on a great show due to the effort and participation of all dancers and the parental support. The show had 20 classes and teams performing before the grand finale.
“The teams did really well, they had high energy and the classes did well, they had fun and I’m happy with that,” dance teacher Melissa Hernandez said.
The recital consisted of classes, duets, solos, and teams performing to different routines and songs. In every dance a class had to show facial expression depending on the song’s mood.
“I felt super excited because everyone in my class did (well) and I was nervous at the beginning, but when dancing everything went away,” dance I student Nathalia Gonzales said
Every recital is full of excitement and memories. Dance I was shy at the beginning of their performance, but at the end of the day they’re hoping for the next recital.
“I want the next recital to come already, actually I feel excited for the next one, because to be my first performance I had fun,” Gonzales said.
Dance II, III, and team members are pros at performing. They dance to “La La La,” “Let Her Go,” “Mama Yo,” and “ Bounce.”
This recital is over but after the break it’s time to prepare for the April’s recital.
