Swim team kicks off season
Swimming kicks off the season with a handful of new members and new goals. Nine experienced swimmers return to the team.
The team works hard and practices long hours.
“To win district we push them to their limit and train them,” swimming captain Allison Garcia said.
There are 16 new members who have joined the team.
“It’s easier to teach and coach new swimmers than swimmers with bad habits,” swim coach Jesus Sandoval said.
Swim captain Michael Salcido said the team needs to train hard every day. The biggest rival they face is Hanks High School.
“They have numbers, we have quality,” Sandoval said.
Soccer coach Bruce Reichman is working with the swim team to condition and strengthen the swimmers.
“With his help and expertise, all members should improve in the personal times,” Salcido said.
Eleven seniors are on the team.
“All are very experienced in competing,” Sandoval said.
With hard work the swim team hopes to accomplish all of their goals.
“(I want) to get all members of the swim team to be on the same page and train hard to swim fast and ultimately regain our district edge and win district,” Saldoval said
