Into the looking glass of Google
People have always wanted to look into the future, and now it is possible to wear the future with the Google Glass.
Google Glass are glasses with a computer that allows the consumer to do tasks hand- free, unlike a smart phone, including taking pictures, recording, translating, getting information and directions with the manufacturing help of Foxconn and Android.
Not only is Google Glass technological advanced, it has style too. Luxottica, an Italian eyewear company, owners of Ray-Bans, and Oakley’s, helped give Google Glass a slick design.
The release date for Google Glass is this summer with a $1,500 price tag. Developers of Google Glass received their set last February.
“It’s scary, someone could be recording you and invading privacy. Crimes and drug transactions could be caught,” Engineering teacher Martin Armendariz said.
With the advancement of technology day-by-day, Google Glass is taking the first step into the technology of tomorrow.
“It would be awesome,” Security Officer Michael Atkins said. “It would help us with identifying and maybe solving crimes.”
With it’s 1GB RAM and 640 by 360 pixel display everyone has a different perspective on Google Glass.
“I think it would be really cool, but I don’t think it’s good for school,” junior Bianka Valencia said. “It would defeat the purpose of education.”
While many are excited about the release of the Google Glass, others fear for the use of the product.
“This can only hurt schools even more, and it will cause more disturbance within the school,” debate coach Rick Jordan said. “We are only hurting the way we learn more and more each day.”
With a touch pad, mic and other amazing features Google Glass may make life easier.
