Boys soccer team wraps up season with Bi-District championship

Fired up with a district championship, the boys were ready for playoffs taking theBi-District championship against Canutillo High School, 2-1.

“We all have the same beliefs, we want to win state! To enforce that we progressively challenge them throughout the season in practices,” varsity coach Bruce Reichman said.

The boys conquered the season bringing home the district championship with a big 3-2 win against Hanks High School March 19. They lost the Area championship in a heartbreaker to Austin High School, 1-0.

“As a coach we strive for perfection and excellence. At the end of the season we always look to be ‘state champions’,” Reichman said.

The boys worked hard to win they succeeded Feb. 8, against Ysleta High School, beating them 3-1.

“I don’t have any concerns with the boys, they’re a great group of student athletes,” Reichman said.

The boys’ first loss came against Hanks High School, Feb. 19, 1-0.

“I felt impotent with our first lost. I couldn’t do anything, because I was injured,” senior captain Luis Portillo said.

The team didn’t show any concerns after a loss, instead they tried harder to win every time they stepped on the field.

“When I got chosen for varsity I felt happy and my hard work paid off,” junior Alan Ramos said. “I push myself harder to become better.”

The boys stay together and support each other like brothers, like  Conquistadores.

“I describe my team as a family, we’re always there for each other no matter what,” junior captain Jesus Payan said.
