Donald Sterling struck down by social media
There is no room for racism, all should be treated equally. Donald Sterling, the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers in a league composed of 81 percent players that are black, was revealed to the world as a racist via social media.
An audio tape was recently released in which Sterling is speaking to his girlfriend and says disturbing things about African-Americans. There is no room for a person like him in the NBA, he has no right to say such things.
With less than three months as NBA commissioner, Adam Silver brought the hammer down on Sterling. He is banned from the NBA for life, he cannot help with any team decisions, he cannot be at any games or practices, he cannot be inside the offices or the stadium of the Clippers and he was fined the maximum allowed by the NBA constitution which is $2.5 million.
Sterling’s horrible comments have lost him sponsorships and respect from everyone. UCLA even gave him back a gift of $450,000 and rejected a $3 million pledge for research. Sterling deserves it and he should be stripped of all his awards. Everyone should boycott renting any of his real estate and watch him go penniless.
The cold and heartless Sterling is going to fight the NBA. The NBA wants to force him to sell his team but he will not go without a fight. He has fought hard against discrimination charges before, so it is expected for him to go against the NBA.
