Katy Perry stuck in a Prism
Katy Perry’s new album, Prism depicts a more mature and spiritual Katy. Although it’s not as amazing as her second album, Teenage Dream, which had no less than six hit singles including “Teenage Dream,” “Last Friday Night (TGIF),” “E.T.,” “Firework,” and “California Girls.”
Still, Prism, is really good with 16 tracks and four hits including “Roar,” “Walking On Air,” “Birthday,” and “Dark Horse.” The more personal songs that relate to her audience on a deeper level, about her personal feelings, are “Unconditionally,” and “By the Grace of God.”
One problem is that this album has too many trite phrases in the lyrics. “Roar” is basically structured with overused phrases that dull the song out with, phrases such as “bite my tongue,” “eye of the tiger” “stood for nothing, so… fell for everything,” and “push me past the breaking point.” Many of the tracks have the same rhythm and after a while it sounds like it’s the same song over and over.
Nonetheless, Prism, is a great album to listen to.
