Juniors unveil Casino Royale
Cards, feathers, machines and bets. Casino Royale hasn’t been this good since the Bond scene. Prom is flamboyant as a Las Vegas night out. Not many know how much work goes into a few hours of what amount to irreplaceable memories.
Senior prom, organized by Class of 2016, is being held at the Tuscany Ballroom, May 2, from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m. Tickets are $30 for an individual ticket $50 per couple.
“It’s our last big night as seniors, it’s important that we have fun,” senior Dalia Estrada said.
Class of 2016 is sponsored by math teacher Yolanda Solis and counts 10 members who fund raise constantly to ensure the seniors have a memorable night.
“If you want to make it nice, it just gets expensive,” Solis said.
The very anticipated fight of Manny Pacquiao vs Mayweather is scheduled on the same day as prom. Many students hope that it is shown during the event. However, the ballroom does not come with a set up to show the fight. It would have to be installed in order to watch it.
“We really are working on it,” Solis said. “If all goes well we will show the fight,”
Class of 2016 meets three times a month to organize prom and the fundraisers that come with it.
“We’ve been working on prom since October,” junior Abeli Nunez said.
Such an event requires a lot of effort from the people that are in charge of it.
“We’ve sold foam fingers, t-shirts, chips, corn nuts, chocolates, many things to ensure the seniors a memorable time,” Class of 2016 vice-president Ariana Solis said.
Class of 2016 aims to have one of the best proms the school has seen. Prom will even have a photo booth for the first time.
“I wouldn’t want my prom to suck, so I’m giving them a good one,” Class of 2016 President Luis Guerrero said.
On another front, candidates for the court have been announced. Alfonso Arreguin, Dominic Parada, and Andrew Perches are running for prom king and Brianna Camposano, Valeria Carlos, and Aimee Garcia are running for prom queen.
“I want to make my last year special, even if I win or lose the experience of campaigning will stay with me forever and that’s what matters,” senior Aimee Garcia said.
