Airway Blvd, lighting beautification project complete
The city spiced up the road to the airport by combining artwork and lighting on Interstate-10 and Airway Boulevard.
After many city council meetings and $7 million, the city’s project started in 2008. Seattle based artist Vicki Scuri spearheaded the project. She told the El Paso Times that the sculptures were inspired by aeronautical shapes and desert plants.
The city is dedicating the next several years to the art lights project that starts at the Airway Boulevard exit/entrance and ends at the El Paso International Airport. The city hopes to bring in other artists for diversity.
