Teenagers charged in bullying disabled man
A 26-year-old man suffering from a neurodevelopment disorder was the victim of three teenagers that beat him non-stop, as they took a video that was uploaded to the internet.
“This is sad, it should’ve never happened,” Security Supervisor Sergeant Michael Atkins said.
The video helped the police identify two teenage suspects and led them to them, the third turned himself in. The three young men were charged with misdemeanors, according to department spokesperson Sgt. Jacob Andrews on www.CNN.com.
This case is still angering viewers across the nation after posting on social media using hashtags #TheBullyProject and #JusticeForCoran.
“This has never happened here, but if it does the consequences would be suspension, arrest, and most likely Cesar Chavez Academy,” Atkins said.
Andrews later informed that the investigation was still open and the police anticipate additional arrests.
“It’s more than disgusting. There’s no word to describe what they did,” the victims stepmother told KYW-TV.
School security works to protect individuals on school property.
“To prevent this here we make a lot of rounds, and monitor the campus,” Atkins said.
