Phone apps; good, bad, crummy
Phones are part of people’s lives, they are an extension of themselves. Most phones come with some kind of app store and apps make the phone unique to each person.
Everyone has the more common apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, Twitter, Tumblr but there are so many other apps out there.
Timera shows how streets and buildings looked like in the past based on the current location, it is as close to a time machine as one can get.
Dormi is a smartphone baby monitor that pairs two Android devices. Dormi adjusts to the background noise and detects crying baby sounds sending it to the device.
Lynda.com has training videos to help people learn a new skill in subjects like Photoshop, business, or web design. It marks progress and even has playlists making it easy to keep track.
Although apps can be helpful, there are also many useless and ridiculous apps.
I Am Rich is an app that added a red gem in the middle of the iPhone screen. It cost $999.99. Eight people actually bought it. It is now banned from the app store.
My Name is iPhone App lets people turn their phone into a name tag. Because why spend a few cents on a name tag, right?
Ever wanted to crack a phone screen? HangTime allows people to track how long their phone was in the air when they threw it as well as share their high scores with their friends, all they have to do is destroy their expensive phone.
iNap@Work makes sounds like keyboard taps, pencil sharpeners, coughs and mouse clicks so an employee can nap without being discovered. If someone wants to get fired this is sure to get the job done.
And just because apps are free does not mean they should be downloaded. SimStapler makes stapling sounds, after every 10 taps a British woman says “Splendid!” Useless is an understatement.
Ever wonder how good of a kisser anyone is? Kiss me … rates people’s kissing abilities, if one is downloading this app the answer is most likely not very good.
Although, these apps are ridiculous one hopes that they were developed as a joke. Hope is eternal.
