Paul Walker’s death impacts fans and “Fast” franchise
In 2001, The Fast And The Furious was first released. It was the start of 5 sequels, and number 7 is in the works. The series has earned over $2.3 billion according to the-numbers.com. Teens ate it up as did older audiences. It was all in the car scene. And the movies’ popularity is not just an America phenomenon, the “Fast” series is a hit worldwide. More than $1.4 billion were made outside of the U.S. People all over the world love the series.
With the death of star Paul Walker, millions mourned. He was main star of the “Fast” series. He played Brian O’ Connor, an undercover agent who turns bad and joins the group he is investigating. They go on many heists together, always exhilarating and always in amazing cars.
“I grew up watching Fast N’ Furious, me and Dad always watched them when I was little. It was a way to bond. I felt like it gave us something in common. As a little kid, watching bright, loud cars race was always exciting. There is nothing better,” senior Jake Deven said.
Paul Walker died last November as a passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT that his friend was driving in Valencia, CA. They were going over 100 mph on a 45 mph speed limit zone, they crashed into a tree and the car caught fire according to CNN.com. Thousands have flown to see the crash site, even some of the stars and personal friends of Walker who were part of the ‘Fast series.
Tyrese Gibson, star of the series and a personal close friend, was seen crying and broken down at the scene.
“What gave me my smile again is really thinking about the fact I’ve never seen him cry, never seen him sad and his energy was always up so I’m like, why would I be crying and sad and messed up,” Gibson tweeted.
