Small Learning Community serves underclassmen
The SLC Center is a tutoring center that offers students additional support and help. The center helps 9th and 10th graders transition from middle school to high school.
Tutors assist with completing missing assignments and help students with work they are having trouble understanding. The center also offers credit redemption hours.
“The main goal is to give students a solid foundation their 9th and 10th grade years so that they are successful as upper classmen. Our services are key in not only providing additional support but also in providing important academic and behavioral interventions,” SLC coordinator Valerie Hairston said.
Tutoring is available after school from 4:05 to 5:30 p.m. A homework club will run Tuesday and Thursday in the library where students can sit and do homework and use available material. The SLC center is located in A204.
