Godfather of Shock Rock, Alice Cooper

According to band legend the name Alice Cooper came to Vincent Damon Furnier,  frontman for the band, during a Ouija board session in which the board told him he was reincarnated from a girl who was accused of being a witch. It is a pretty creepy story.

According to the Alice Cooper Trivia website, Furnier is described as the first artist who introduced horror imagery into rock ‘n’ roll. His albums such as Welcome to My Nightmare, Paranormal and others, greatly define a horror image for holidays like Halloween. Alice Cooper is still motivated and continues touring worldwide including Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany with plans to record.

Furnier first formed a band in high school named the Earwigs in the early 60s, he changed the name to the Spiders in 1968, followed by the Nazz.

Working with a band generated great hits, but Furnier’s solo career skyrocketed in the late 70s. Furnier found a way to make rock music bigger and more creative. Each new album that Alice Cooper released was accompanied by an elaborate touring stage show.
