Will Trump make America “great again”?

Everyone was surprised, even stunned, when Donald J. Trump won the presidential election. Many did not like the results, but now it’s time to accept it and see what the future of the country is with this new president.

His election quickly led to protests against Trump after he won, there were protests across the country including New York City and Los Angeles.

“People are protesting because of the disrespectful person he is,” English teacher Alfredo Estrada said.

There is disagreement over the many protests, some think it is better to accept the results because the votes were fair.

“I think they need to give him a chance,” baseball coach, Neil Sanchez said. “To win the election you need to have the college votes, which Hillary did not get enough.”

Some are accepting the results, Donald Trump won the electoral college vote with 306, and Hillary Clinton  collected 232. A total of 270 are required to win.

“The only thing I can say is to see what is going to happen,” Estrada said. “We just sit and wait for it.”

Some disagree with the attitude that Trump had as a candidate.

“I hope that he is not what we all think he is, a racist ignorant pig,” junior Natalia Dominguez said. “We are now in his hands, I really hope he does not lead us to a dark four-year period of time.”

It remains to be seen if he keeps his campaign promises to build a fence between Mexico and United States, strengthen the military, and lower taxes.

“Our borders need to be protected and the U.S. needs to be strong internationally without the help of any country. We need tax breaks to create jobs. Our military needs to be stronger,” Sanchez said.

Some think the election results may have a negative impact in our country.

“I’m not happy with it, because it was not a victory for all America, just for the immoral people,” Estrada said. “(Maybe) he is going to create a violent nation, but a nation where minorities may not have the same opportunities as others.”

Some people just think that there is going to be a great chance for the country.

“I was excited, I think that the nation needs a change,” Sanchez said.
