Beehive: The 60’s Musical,” directed by Marissa Thurman, was the first production of the year and it was a big success.

“It was one of the first musicals that took us a little over a month to get things ready. We had long rehearsals but it was worth it,” theater director Marissa Thurman said.

Tech Theater teacher Martha Gutierrez has her classes build the set. She also had new techies work the lighting for the play. The teachers had preparations for the play.

“We had long rehearsals. Shopping for costumes and we have one-on-one discussions about the auditions, the actors and actresses,” Gutierrez said.

The new tech group struggled to learn the spotlighting and lighting cues, but with rehearsals after school for three hours and everyone learned and the lighting was great.

“We had three extra rehearsals. They were long but they did great,” Gutierrez said.

The singers and dancers struggled with learning the songs and dances in such short time. It got easier after several rehearsals. The actors and actresses had their own preparations as well.

“We had to practice our lines over and over again. We also had to look up the singers and character match,” Destiny Amaya said.

The Beehive performance was on October 18-20th, tickets were $5 each.
