Homecoming is almost here. The court was officially announced Sept. 24. Homecoming  king is Christian Villalva with queen Britney Villegas.

“I was really excited that I won; since freshman year I always wanted to run for king and it being my first experience, I am really happy I won,” Homecoming king Villalva said.

The theme “Around the World,” offered candidates plenty to work with. Campaign requirements included a speech and performance. Most candidates performed, but speeches were brief.

Candidates included: Deanne Alderette, Paola Chavez, Diego Flores, Kathia Gonzalez, Luna Marquez, Jessica Tarin, Cristian Villalva, and Britney Villegas.  “As a kid, I always wanted to feel how it is and Homecoming to me is a great experience, and I’m excited,” Homecoming queen Villegas said.

Head of the science department Carol Dickerson was selected as Grand Marshal. She will be in the fourth car leading the organizations.

“Homecoming gives students the opportunity to get into the theme of what’s going on and gives school spirit which is good for the school,” Dickerson said.

Homecoming is a bonding experience for the entire school.

“OFOD,” means One Family One Destiny and we try to portray our students and show what our school is all about (as well as) the spirit,” student council president Nalley Ramirez said.

Seniors are getting ready for their last Homecoming and freshmen are excited for a new beginning.

“It is the first year that I will be attending Homecoming, and I’m really looking forward to it. I am looking forward to the fireworks and the dance,” senior Beatriz Mendoza said.

It’s only the beginning and people are starting to gather.

“It’s exciting because you get to meet people, and you see everyone together,” freshman Seth Lahrman said.
