Class of 2015 Seniors before graduation June 9.

Seniors prepare to say goodbye as the final events of the year wind up. These events are tradition since day one including Senior Mass, Senior Week events, Senior Farewell, Senior Sunset, Graduation and Project Celebration.

The first event takes place May 23 at 11 a.m. in Corpus Christi Parish where seniors and family members can join together in gratitude.

“I’m going to the Senior Mass to give thanks to God that I’m finally graduating,” Janeth Cano said.

To make the last week of school for seniors extra special the Class of 2015 officers organize Senior Week.

“This week we are able to go back in time to when we were little, dream of how we see ourselves in the future and well of course school spirit,” class president Yesenia Ramirez said.

In the course of the past four years seniors formed part of the many clubs and organizations and some took leadership to the next level. It is at the Senior Farewell where seniors gather to watch the video put together by Conquest Journal and await to be recognized for their accomplishments on May 29.

“I look forward to the video, cause it reminds us about our elementary, middle and high school days in a single video, and we get the chance to thank our class sponsors because they have been with us since freshman year,” Ramirez said.

June 5, the last day of school, mixes nostalgia and excitement as seniors walk through the hallways anticipated to move on to new and different paths. Seniors make plans to attend the Senior Sunset where they will join to watch the sunset one last time as a class. There will be slides, jumping balloons and entertainment.

“I would like to go since it’s my last year and didn’t attend senior sunrise. For me it’s a way to say goodbye to the school and the memories,” NEHS President Jocelyn Arreola said.

The days pass by and students gather at Don Haskins Center June 9, the countdown is over. Everyone has been awaiting this bittersweet moment as life takes everyone on different paths.

“It’s scary but exciting cause we finally get to go to the real world and nobody has to hold our hands, we go on our own to different paths,”  Conquest Journal Director Ayleen Castro said.

After graduation students head out to Wet N’ Wild for Project Celebration where they can be joined by guests and friends and have the chance to win prizes, enjoy good food, listen to live music and have fun in the water park.

“It’s gonna be a wild, fun-filled adventure,” Jacob Pineda said.

As this chapter ends a new one is waiting to begin.
