Varsity choir performs at the Celebration of Lights, in Cleveland Square, Dec. 6.

The campus choir went to Cleveland Square downtown where they performed a number of songs for the lighting of the Christmas tree, after the Military Brass section opened.

“It was nervewracking since it was the first time the city had a high school sing for the lighting,” choir member Ylian Cota said.

Songs included Do You Hear What I Hear?, Christmas Pop Trio, and Peace, Peace.
Hundreds attended. Even though some of the students were nervous they soon became comfortable performing.

“It felt amazing, people were singing along, (and it was) really exciting to know that we were a part of something special,” Cota said.

The performance was shown on ABC and KVIA news channels.

“(It was an) amazing experience for the kids (and had) a lot of festive energy in the air,” choir teacher Lisa Serna said.
