Class of 2021 is facing the difficult task of organizing events during COVID-19. Many events are being postponed or changed to accommodate the circumstances.

Class officers and sponsors are reevaluating their plans to make sure students are safe and have fun.

“We have to take into consideration social distancing and safety procedures but we are striving to give seniors the best experience they can have,” Class of 2021 sponsor Magdalena Sigala said.

The senior trip to California was canceled last year but there are discussions about sponsoring a senior trip for this class.

“Mr. Acuña and Mr. Cordova are working on the details,” Sigala said.

Due to the cancellation of last year’s prom, the Class of 2021 lost thousands in funds. The budget is further complicated by an inability to fundraise as usual.

“Right now we are only (doing) Spirit Night type fundraisers at different food places,” co-class president Natalia Torres said.

Class shirts are being sold online and seniors are notified when shirts are available for pick-up.

“Once a bulk of people place an order, the shirts are made and distributed in the science wing, at a designated time, with safety precautions,” co-class president Gilberto Lopez said.
