Star Wars, a space opera with lightsabers, blasters and huge spaceship battles that began in 1977 changed a generation and continues to do so. The series went dormant for 10 years before Disney stepped in with The Force Awakens in 2015.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker directed by J.J. Abrams, starring Daisy Ridley (Rey), is the latest and final entry in The Skywalker Saga. A lot is expected from this film as it is the end of a story that has spanned almost four decades.

The Rise of Skywalker must be a hit for Star Wars as The Last Jedi divided fans and Solo: A Star Wars Story bombed only making close $400 million at the box office with an estimated budget of $300 million including marketing cost. Lucasfilm wants to make sure this doesn’t happen with this film. The new movie faced many setbacks during development, but is finally ready for release Dec. 20. Many fans are excited based on trailers and television spots.

Since this film is the end of The Skywalker Saga, it will have to answer some questions that has plagued the series since 2015, including the heritage of the protagonist Rey, the identity of the antagonist Snoke and most recently how the series villain Emperor Palpatine is back from the dead after being killed by Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi.

The plot for the movie is being kept entirely underwraps as Lucasfilm and Disney don’t want anything to be revealed until fans see the film. One of the actors John Boyaga (Finn), left his part of the script in his apartment and a cleaning lady found it under his bed and later on the script appeared on eBay. Disney quickly bought the script before anyone could buy it.

The Rise Of Skywalker will have to accomplish many things when it finally comes out. It will have to turn a profit and satisfy fans with its ending and not bring more negative attention to the series as it will expand even further with future films and television shows.
